German New Medicine in Australia
What is German New Medicine?
German New Medicine (GNM), or Germanische Heilkunde, in plain English: where it comes from, what it proposes, and what it is not.
The short answer
German New Medicine is a framework for looking at symptoms. Instead of seeing a symptom as your body malfunctioning, GNM proposes that it is a meaningful biological program, started by something that happened in your life and run by your body for a reason.
I teach it as a working hypothesis, not a diagnosis. I make it simple, so you can see the whole map and decide what it means for you.
What GNM is not. GNM is not an established medical diagnostic framework, and its proposed links between conflicts, brain scans and disease are not established medical explanations. What I teach is education and voluntary self-inquiry. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it does not replace a registered health practitioner. Please continue appropriate healthcare.
Where it comes from
GNM was developed by Dr Ryke Geerd Hamer, a German physician, from the early 1980s. Its original German name is Germanische Heilkunde, often shortened to GHK, and roughly translated as Germanic Healing Knowledge. In English it is called German New Medicine, or GNM.
I teach from his original material.
The core idea
GNM proposes that each biological program begins with a specific type of event: a shock that is dramatic, unexpected and isolating. Isolating doesn't mean you were physically alone. It means you felt alone with how you felt about it, and couldn't share it with anyone. In GNM this is called a biological conflict. It is not "stress" in the general sense. It is a particular moment, felt a particular way, in a particular context.
From there, GNM maps three levels as one system: the psyche (what you perceived and felt), the brain, and the organ. Each type of conflict is linked to its own area of the brain and its own organ program. That is why GNM says symptoms are specific, not random.
The five biological laws
The five biological laws are the foundation of GNM. In everyday language, they say:
- Cause and effect. Every biological program begins with a conflict shock, which registers in the psyche, the brain and the organ at once. The content of the conflict determines which organ will be affected.
- Two phases. Each program has two phases, a conflict active phase and a restoration phase. Many of the symptoms people fear show up in the restoration phase.
- The compass. GNM builds on embryology, which is well-established science. Organs are grouped by the embryonic germ layer they derive from, and each group responds in its own pattern. In GNM, this is the compass: it links the psyche, the brain and the organ the same way every time, for every tissue.
- Microbes have a role in restoration. In GNM, microbes are part of the restoration phase, not the direct cause of symptoms or disease.
- Everything has a purpose. Called the Quintessence, this law says that everything the body is doing has a purpose and a reason. Nothing is random, and nothing is a mistake.
We go through each of these in detail in Quintessence Academy.
Key terms in plain English
GNM has its own vocabulary. These are the words you'll meet most often.
- Germanische Heilkunde (GHK)
- The original German name for GNM. It translates roughly as Germanic Healing Knowledge. You'll see GHK, GNM and Germanische Heilkunde used for the same framework.
- Biological conflict
- In GNM, a specific shock that is dramatic, unexpected and isolating. Isolating doesn't mean you were alone. It means you felt alone with it and couldn't share how you felt. It is not general stress.
- Conflict-active phase
- The first phase of a program, while the conflict is unresolved.
- Restoration phase
- The second phase, after a conflict resolves. GNM proposes that many familiar symptoms appear here. A change in symptoms is not proof of resolution, and any new or worsening symptoms need appropriate medical assessment.

The psyche side
In GNM, a conflict registers in three places at once: the psyche, the brain and the organ. Most approaches start with the organ. I work with the psyche too: what you think and believe about what happened, about your body, and about yourself, much of it unconscious.
That is why I pair GNM with Integrated Somatic Inquiry (ISI), which I trained in through an apprenticeship with Brandon Bozarth. GNM gives the map. ISI is how we explore your own territory.
German New Medicine in Australia
I'm an Australian GNM teacher, and I teach and work one to one online with people in Australia and around the world. I'm not a registered health practitioner, and I don't diagnose or treat anyone. If you have a health concern, please see your GP or another registered practitioner, and treat what you learn here as a way of understanding your own story alongside that care.
Where my teaching comes from
I teach from Dr Hamer's own writing, including his Scientific Chart of Germanic New Medicine, and from my advanced GNM mentorship. GNM sits outside mainstream medicine, and I teach it as education alongside your own healthcare.
How you can learn it with me
- Start free. Listen to my episode on the Here on Earth podcast, where I go through all five biological laws.
- Read free. My free ebook, Biologically Normal, is about how men and women are biologically designed, and why they keep missing each other.
- Go deeper. Quintessence Academy combines GNM education with Integrated Somatic Inquiry: a self-paced classroom, four live calls a month, and a Telegram community. I teach the GNM foundations in the classroom and host the Open GNM Call on the third Monday of each month, 3 PM US Central.
- Work with me one to one. 1:1 sessions are 75 minutes, online, from wherever you are.
Questions
What is German New Medicine (Germanische Heilkunde)?
German New Medicine, called Germanische Heilkunde in German (roughly "Germanic Healing Knowledge"), is a framework developed by Dr Ryke Geerd Hamer. It views symptoms as meaningful biological programs linked to life events. I teach it as a working hypothesis, in plain, everyday language.
Is GNM a medical diagnosis or treatment?
No. GNM is an educational framework, not an established medical diagnostic framework. I teach it as a way of exploring your own story, alongside appropriate healthcare.
Does this replace my doctor?
No. My work is education and coaching. I don't diagnose or treat any condition, and I encourage you to continue appropriate healthcare with a registered practitioner.
What does a 1:1 session involve?
A session is 75 minutes, online. We look at your own timeline through GNM and Integrated Somatic Inquiry, including the unconscious beliefs underneath your patterns. See how it works and how to enquire.
Do you work with people outside Australia?
Yes. I'm based in Australia and work online with men and women all over the world.
